In our Squirrels Room we have a maximum of twelve children at any one time, we offer a selection of different sessions to support all your family needs. The ratio for this age group is 1:4 and the room has been specifically designed to meet all your child's needs.
We encourage all parents/carers to follow our settle into nursery programme, this offers your child several settle sessions before they are due to start at nursery. We feel this helps build a special bond between us and your child as well as, gives you the parent a chance to meet and get to know the practitioners.
The Squirrels room overlooks the main garden which gives your child the opportunity to look out across our wonderful outside space. The Squirrels have access to our Nature and Sensory Garden which has lots of different areas that capture and encourage your child's imagination and exploration, offering a range of activities that will stimulate your child's interest and curiosity. We have a frog pond, construction area, sand and beach area, mud kitchen, vegetable patch and bug hotel, as well as a relaxing story and sensory circle with lots of bright and colourful flowers. We ensure that all of our outdoor learning environments are rich in numbers, shapes and colours. Free flow play between the room and the garden is accessible for your child throughout parts of the day.
The Squirrels room offers a rich learning environment with many different areas including a story and cosy corner, a raised home and role play corner which incorporates the children's topics and projects as well as creative areas for your child to explore and experience many different fun, messy and sensory activities. The Squirrels room has comfy mattresses and individual bedding for the children for when they need a nap throughout their busy day.
Two year old developmental checks will be carried out in The Squirrels room, these link with the checks completed by your Health Visitor. If you have any questions or queries please do not hesitate in asking Kerry or Karly or the practitioners within the room.
We feel that partnership with parents is a vital aspect to ensure that your child is happy. Each child has a day book where all routines and parent correspondence are logged daily. Your child will have a Learning Journey scrap book where all planned activities, photographs, parent feedback, developmental milestones and next steps are recorded. We encourage all parents to be highly involved with their child's Learning Journey bringing together precious moments from home and nursery.
Please see our Government Funding page for more information on two year old funding.
