3 - 5 years

In our Badgers Pre-School room we have a maximum of sixteen children at any one time, however between 9am - 3pm we extend our class to twenty four children using the Foxes room. We offer a selection of different sessions to support all your family needs.  The ratio for this age group is 1:8 and the room has been specifically designed to meet all of your child's needs.

We encourage all parents/carers to follow our settle into nursery programme, this offers your child several settle sessions before they are due to start our nursery. We feel this helps build a special bond between us and your child as well as, gives you the parent a chance to meet and get to know the practitioners as you get the chance to stay and play.

The Badgers room overlooks the main garden which gives your child the opportunity to look out across our wonderful outside space, it also has comfy window seating which allows your child to relax and take in the awe and wonder of our Nature and Sensory garden.  Our Nature and Sensory Garden has lots of different areas that capture and encourage your child's imagination and exploration, offering a range of activities that will stimulate your child's interest and curiosity.  We have a frog pond, construction area, sand and beach area, mud kitchen, vegetable patch and bug hotel, as well as a relaxing story and sensory circle with lots of bright and colourful flowers. We ensure that all of our outdoor learning environments are rich in numbers, shapes and colours.  Free flow play between the room and the garden is accessible for your child throughout parts of the day.

The Badgers room offers a rich learning environment with many different areas including a story and cosy corner, a role play corner which incorporates the children's topics and projects as well as creative areas for your child to explore and experience many different fun, messy and sensory activities.  In the Badgers room we encourage your child's growing independence with every aspect of their daily routine, this includes personal hygiene routines, self service breakfasts and snacks, drinks station and clearing and tidying after meal times.  This all helps in preparing your child for school. Please see our Transition Page for more information on transition reports and going to school.

We feel that partnership with parents is a vital aspect to ensure that your child is happy. Each child has a day book where all routines and parent correspondence are logged daily. Your child will have a Learning Journey scrap book where all planned activities, photographs, parent feedback, developmental milestones and next steps are recorded. We encourage all parents to be highly involved with their child's Learning Journey bringing together precious moments from home and nursery.
